About the position

WireMock is on a mission to build better tools for developers who work with API’s. Our software makes it easy to mock any API you depend on, improving productivity and allowing developers to keep building software rather than wait for finicky or incomplete API’s. WireMock delivers the popular WireMock open source software and WireMock Cloud which is built on top of it. WireMock is used by thousands of companies around the world such as Paylocity, PayPal, Intuit, OVO Energy, IHG, Ingenico and more than 2M developers.

We are looking for an experienced Developer Advocate and Community Lead to join WireMock. We currently have a thriving open source community with thousands of members which the developer advocate will engage with, cultivate and grow. You will work closely with our international teams that are based in London, the San Francisco Bay Area and Remote, US.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to assist with the review, triage and support on open source contributions
  • Support and nurture our current community while also focusing on growth
  • Promote WireMock through various channels including; social media, forums, and other online spaces.
  • Set the cadence and produce blog posts, tutorials, articles etc. about WireMock, API mocking and adjacent topics.
  • Seek out and build relationships with individuals and other open source communities where it is mutually beneficial.
  • Create demo projects and other technical assets to educate users and contributors about WireMock
  • Delivery presentations and host workshops at meetups, conferences and other in person and virtual events. These will be inbound opportunities as well ones you seek out.

Requirements

  • You have a professional background in software development with proficiency in at least two popular programming languages, including Java and ideally including Python.
  • You possess a solid grasp on how open source software projects and communities function, thrive and grow.
  • You have a proven track record in promoting and meaningfully increasing open source project traction across relevant KPIs such as: number of contributors, number of commits, number of Slack community users and social channels followers.
  • You have experience promoting a business built on commercialized open source projects through a diverse set of channels, educating users, and presenting at and hosting workshops at in-person and virtual events.
  • Your background includes some experience in working with APIs and associated tooling.
  • Top notch communication skills, both verbal and written on technical topics, within the community and internally with the team.
